Sooner or later, though, most families want their deceased loved one to have a permanent resting place - a place where loved ones can go in order to privately pay their respects. One of the simplest options for giving your loved one that permanent home is to bury the cremated remains.

An alternative to the urn garden is burying cremated remains in a standard cemetery plot. This provides an efficient way to have a family burial area.

In addition to burial, there are other options for providing cremated remains with a permanent home. One of the most common is interring the cremated remains in a columbarium - that is, an above-ground building where cremated remains can be placed and memorialized. A columbarium has a number of small spaces - niches - that are each large enough for one urn to be placed. You can also buy a group of niches clustered together if multiple family members wish to be memorialized in close proximity.
